Whaaaatttt? The end of the year?! The end of the year?! How is this even possible? I feel like I was just saying Happy New Year 2023🎊, a few short weeks ago. My mind is almost blown.
The last couple of days, we’ve been reflecting and goal setting as a family. We agree hands down that this was an extremely full year. Full of its share of ups ad downs lol! Of course, each individual’s experience may vary but the collective one requires marveling.
How many times did I think, was that this year? 🤯
I am in no way saying that all the things that happened this year were hunky dory. No sir, no ma’am!
However, I have to say it was a good year. I almost gasp at that assertion with the amount of challenge and stretching that I, along with loved ones and friends, have experienced. As I consider all the different events, I have to say that I am grateful, thankful and blessed.
First off, being alive is a major plus in this game of life. I give all praise to the King of Kings for that one. Beyond that, in the stretching, in the crushing, God revealed to me areas where I have improved and where I need further improvement.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I would prefer if everything was easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy. However, I am learning that in the tension, in the affliction, the true impact of the lesson is revealed.
What does scripture say?
It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes. (Psalm 119:71 ESV)
This year has been hard, but a good burn, like when you’re working out. If you want results, you have to put in the time and effort. Without the tension, there is no change.
That’s where the gratitude comes in—
That’s where the thanksgiving comes in—
That’s where the blessing comes in—
Knowing full well that God is with you as you travel through the days, the weeks, the months and the years. As long as you hold on to His unchanging hand, everything is going to be alright. You get the privilege of knowing EVEN MORE how faithful and good He has been, is, and will continue to be! 🙌
