Cast your burden on the Lord [release it] and He will sustain and uphold you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail). (Psalm 55:22 AMP)
This is a great scripture. It’s such a testament of how much the Lord loves His children. Love that acts. And sustains.
We are sustained by sustenance. Sustenance. What does that mean? According to Webster’s 1828, its definition includes support, maintenance and subsistence (competent provisions; means of supporting life). Wow! Won’t that preach (especially if you’re tracking with me 😉)?
The part that gets me excited is that the Lord Himself is both our Sustainer and our Sustenance (John 5:35)!! 👏 He not only provides what we need, but He is what we need! He is our exceeding great reward! (Gen 15:1)
My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in Glory! (Phil 4:19)
I know, I know…it’s easy to get caught up in the I-need-this-that-and-the-other trap. We all have physical/material needs that we would like to have met. However, if we get the mindset that Abba is our GREATEST need, all the other needs fall into line. Our sustenance is provided.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matt 6:33)
Outside of John 3:16, I think this is one of the cornerstone scriptures of the Gospel.
Seek first the King & His Kingdom and the sustenance will come. 👑
Seek Him first. Spirit, soul, body.
Seek the Sustainer first and you will be sustained. 🙌
