Holy Communion

Singing 🎶: “Communion, sweet Communion. To fellowship with You is what I want to do. Communion, sweet Communion. Lord, I long to commune with You.”

I’m not sure those are the actual words verbatim 😉, but you get the gist. We are meant to commune with the Lord.

What does commune mean? According to Webster’s 1828 Dictionary, 📖 one definition is:

To converse; to talk together familiarly; to impart sentiments mutually, in private or familiar discourse…

Wow, that’s loaded. The scripture reference given with this definition is Exodus 25:22 (KJV), which is:

And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee…

Doesn’t that sound so beautiful? The Lord wants to meet with us, commune with us— just like He did with Moses.

Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. (Exodus 33:11)

We are seated in Heavenly places with Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6) so how could we not commune with our Best Friend? How could we ignore the Lover of our souls?

The Lord wants to talk together familiarly with us. He doesn’t want us to treat Him as a distant relative or One who we contact occasionally, when we need something.

No, He wants to be all up in our business lol and vice versa. He wants to develop relationship with us. He wants for there to be familiarity with us because of the proximity we have with Him.

He’s granted us access to Him; let’s not take it for granted.

Let’s make room to commune. 💞
