Stop Horsing Around

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. (Psalm 20:7)

Horses are symbolic of strength, wealth, power, authority, status, security, etc. Who wouldn’t like to see a beautiful horse or better yet own one? 🐎 🐎

Maybe you don’t give a hoot about horses, but you do give a hoot about something. Horses are representative of something in which you put your trust. Whether it’s your wealth, your job, your looks, your family, your status, your country, your education, your church (gasp!), all of it connotes a dependency on something else. Really, a lack of complete dependency on God.

What if you didn’t have any one of those other things, where would your trust lie? It’s a natural human response to rely on these things and the like to bring comfort and stability. However, there is a better way. What is it? The second part of this scripture tells us: “trust in the name of the Lord our God.” 💪💪

Nothing or no one can treat you like Jesus does! His Name is a strong tower and the righteous run to it and are safe. (Psalm 18:10) Therefore, when we get a hold of this revelation, we can boldly proclaim on Whom we are truly dependent.

In Psalm 33:17, we learn that trusting in horses or anything other than God for deliverance or comfort is unwise. Even despite all the great strength or stability any of the above things may seem to provide, they cannot save. They really can do nothing lasting for you.

The Lord further admonishes us in Isaiah 31:1:

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord!

We have to put our faith in the Lord. Not in the world. The things of this world are nothing to be played with; we can’t rely on them. We can’t go down to Egypt!🚫🚫

It is Jesus and Jesus alone who requires all our wholehearted devotion. Consult Him. Seek His face.

So stop horsing around and trust the Lord for everything and in everything!!  You won’t regret it! 🙌🙌🙌
